Almond blossom in Mallorca – The beauty of the island
The almond blossom is a breathtaking spectacle of flowers.
Between the end of January and the middle of March, the almond trees awake from their hibernation and spoil us with their white-pink bloom, while the island itself is still very quite.
It is to be said that there are about one million almond trees on the island today. In the past, these trees were brought here by the Masons in the 10th century, but were the first commercial use started at the end of the 19th century. The almond has been part of Mallorca for centuries and can also be found in many culinary specialties, such as Gato de Almendra (almond cake) and in the famous Turron candy.
A particularly beautiful route to admire the almond blossom is between Palma – Valldemossa and Soller.
On the way from Valldemossa to Soller, you should definitely stop at Son Marroig and enjoy the splendid view.
A stop at Port de Soller is also worthwhile to have a coffee there. The view from the promenade is enchanting, as the mountains arise around the harbor. Back to Palma you take the route from Soller to Palma as it is also highly recommendable to enjoy the sea of almond blooms.
